The Model Sayamprabha Home project has been launched by the Department of Social Justice with the objective of upgrading the existing Sayamprabha Homes to Regional Resource Centres with state of the art amenities which cater the Senior citizens.

Operationalization

1) The Department is planning to operationalize Model Sayamprabha Homes by extending the services to all 14 districts across Kerala.

2) The project aims to streamline all activities and operations of Sayamprabha Homes functioning under Local Self Government Institutions (LSGIs) in the state.

3) Focuses on providing Physiotherapy services, conducting medical camps, ensuring nutritional support for senior citizens, Awareness camps and engaging the elderlies in vocational activities, etc.

4) Provide legal aid to the senior citizens with the support of Legal Services Authorities.

5) Provide a platform to the senior citizens to showcase their talents and aptitude.

6) Empower the senior citizens by emphasizing on their Health, addressing their psychosocial issues for supporting their emotional well-being.

7) The project ultimately acts as a resource hub which caters the elderlies in holistic health care, engage them in arts and sporting activities for a productive and active ageing, creating self- employment avenues, legal aid, nutritional support, etc.
