With the objective of mainstreaming and uplifting the Transgender community, the Department of Social Justice has been implementing numerous education oriented programmes under the Mazhavillu umbrella project. The Transgender community members aspiring to complete their education abroad are unable to achieve their goals due to their poor financial condition. In order to provide a steady support for such aspirants, the Department has strategized an overseas scholarship scheme which enables the transgender individuals to complete their education from a foreign country and thereby earn a sustainable livelihood and improve their living standards. 

This initiative being implemented by the Department of Social Justice in association with ODEPC (Overseas Development and Employment Promotion Consultants), will provide the applicants with appropriate guidance on foreign universities, counselling, medical insurance, legal support and scholarship enrolment procedures.
 

Objectives

1)    Equip the transgender individuals to acquire education overseas and fine tune their skills as per international standards.
2)    Create opportunities among the transgender community which enable them to study accredited courses/ subjects abroad which offer excellent job opportunities.
3)    Assist the transgender individuals to overcome financial constraints and complete their studies overseas.
4)    Provide psychosocial support for community members to combat the challenging social conditions prevailing in society and achieve higher positions.

Eligibility criteria

a) The applicant must possess Transgender ID card.
b) The applicant must fulfill the educational criteria for pursuing the course in foriegn university.
c) In case of huge inflow of applications, priority will be determined based on high percent marks.
d) Applicants below 40 years are eligible to apply for scholarship.
e) The applicants must have completed language proficiency tests for pursuing courses abroad.
