Rapid Response Team for Senior Citizens


Social Justice Department has launched the Rapid Response Team (RRT) project in 2025-26 with the objective of empowering and mainstreaming the Senior citizens in the state. The project aims to reinforce safety mechanisms, welfare activities and social reintegration of the senior citizens by extending the services of RRT to all 14 districts across Kerala.

Objectives

1) Constitute fully operational Rapid Response Team in all 14 districts for welfare of Elderlies.

2) The organization structure of the RRT will be a Field Response Officer (FRO) with contract vehicle for conveyance, ambulance services equipped with nursing staff.

3) The RRT will cater the senior citizens who are in urgent need of care, protection and rehabilitation.

4) Institutional services will be made available to those senior citizens with special needs; the project will also provide rehabilitational facilities by ensuring Health care, Psychosocial support & Social reintegration of the elderlies.

5) Empower senior citizens by providing them with legal aid, skill development, financial security programs, and the benefits of public service systems and welfare schemes through various departments.

6) Encourage the senior citizens to indulge in community based participation in social and cultural activities for a productive and active ageing.

7) Provide immediate safety/relief services to senior citizens/other vulnerable persons during pandemics and natural disasters.
