In the wake of increase in number of atrocities against women and children, various government departments have been working collectively in different sectors for promoting preventive measures to curb such atrocities. As part of the new initiative called ‘Kaithangu’ scheme, these departments along with Kudumbasree, Asha Workers, Saksharatha Preraks, Mahilapradan Agents, Janamaithri police, Youth clubs, Resident’s associations, etc have been incorporated for the formulation of a Response team.
This scheme will be implemented in 350 wards from selected 70 panchayaths throughout the State. The main objective of the scheme is to identify broken families, vulnerable families and families adversely affected due to alcoholism & drug abuse in each selected ward and to bring them to the mainstream of the society by providing them with much needed social support. A committed social worker will coordinate with various departments and thereby provide assistance to such deprived families.
The monthly review of the Response team will be done by the Panchayath Jagratha Samithis/ Women Protection Officers. Besides this, skits will played and awareness sessions will be conducted on themes relating to social reform laws in the area in association with Youth clubs and Resident’s Associations every 3 months.
Decline in number of domestic violence cases and other atrocities against women and children.
Create an opportunity to lead a peaceful dignified life.
